The slice of core’s SystemScheduler the InputManager reads to resolve a query’s execution context: which phase is running, and which fixed step. Structural so tests can substitute a stub.

fixedStepIndex

Monotonic count of fixed steps started; identifies the running step during Phase.FixedUpdate.
